Pause, resume, and end a campaign
How to safely stop outreach without breaking ongoing conversations.
Campaigns move between four states: draft, active, paused, and archived. Knowing how each transition affects in-flight outreach saves a lot of nervous clicking.
Pause
Open the campaign and click Pause campaign. Funkel cancels every action that hasn’t been sent yet, including invites scheduled for the next batch. Conversations already in someone’s inbox are not affected, they stay where they are and the lead can still reply.
Use pause when: you want to edit the workflow, change the sender, take a break, or investigate a deliverability issue.
Resume
Click Resume campaign. Funkel re-queues actions for everyone still in mid-workflow, respecting the original delays between steps. Leads who were waiting at day +3 follow-up when you paused will be sent on day +3 from resume, not from the original invite date.
Archive (end)
Click Archive campaign. The campaign stops sending permanently. All pending actions are canceled. The campaign and its history stay visible for reporting; you just can’t restart it.
Archive is the right move when the campaign has run its course. To rerun the same workflow against a fresh batch of leads, clone the archived campaign instead of restarting it.
What about leads currently being sent to?
A lead who replied is already in your inbox, neither pause nor archive removes them. You decide what to do next from the conversation itself: reply, send a calendar link, or close it out.
What if you just want to slow down?
Don’t pause, instead, lower the daily invite or message budget in Settings. The campaign keeps running but sends fewer per day. Resume the original budget when you’re ready.
