This policy explains what data Funkel handles when you visit funkel.ai, use app.funkel.ai, contact support, connect integrations, or pay for the product.
1. Data Controller
The controller responsible for your personal data under the GDPR is:
Ogbemudia Terry Osayawe
trading as Osayawe Ventures (Einzelunternehmen)
Hufer Weg 59
51467 Bergisch Gladbach
Germany
Phone: +49 151 20725215. Email: hello@funkel.ai. Operator details and the full Impressum are available on the Legal Notice page. Funkel is a sole proprietorship and has not appointed a Data Protection Officer. For data-protection questions, contact the controller above directly.
2. Who This Covers
This policy covers website visitors, prospective customers, paying customers, workspace users, and business contacts whose professional information appears in Funkel through public signals or enrichment.
For your account, billing, and support data, Funkel acts as the controller. For the leads you choose to contact and the campaigns you run, you are responsible for having a lawful reason to process and contact those people.
3. What We Collect and Why
Account and identity data. When you create an account, we collect your name, work email, password hash, sign-in provider IDs, and basic profile details. We use this to create the account, sign you in, provide support, and send service messages.
Workspace and campaign data. We store the product URL or description you provide, buyer profile settings, agent and campaign configuration, approved leads, drafted messages, replies, and connected-account metadata. Funkel needs this to score intent, draft outreach, show replies, and keep campaign history in your workspace.
Business-contact and intent data. Funkel processes public professional information and enrichment data related to leads: names, job titles, companies, public LinkedIn URLs, public engagement signals, job changes, and similar work context. We use it to help you find relevant prospects and write outreach that matches the reason they were found.
Usage, diagnostics, and security data. We collect product usage, diagnostics, and abuse-prevention signals so we can troubleshoot issues, improve performance, secure accounts, and detect misuse.
Billing and communications data. If you buy a paid plan or add-on, Stripe processes your billing information and payment method. We keep invoice, subscription, support, and transactional email records so the service can run properly.
4. How We Use Information
We use data to provide Funkel, authenticate users, run billing, operate integrations, find signals, draft outreach, show replies, prevent abuse, answer support requests, and meet legal obligations.
5. Data Sharing and Sub-processors
We do not sell personal information. We share data only when needed to run Funkel, including with:
- Hetzner for primary application hosting (Go backend, app frontend, and PostgreSQL database, all in Germany).
- Stripe for billing and payment processing.
- Unipile for connected LinkedIn authorization, sending invitations and messages, and receiving conversation events.
- Anthropic for AI drafting and analysis (Claude API).
- NinjaPear for lead enrichment.
- Resend for transactional and product email.
- Vercel for marketing-site hosting and analytics (funkel.ai only; the application itself runs on Hetzner).
- AWS S3 for file storage.
A current sub-processor list is available on request by emailing hello@funkel.ai.
If you connect an integration, we may send relevant data to that destination, such as HubSpot, Slack, Telegram, Zapier, Make, n8n, or a webhook endpoint you control. We may also disclose data when required by law, to protect rights and security, or as part of a merger, financing, or asset transfer.
6. Cookies and Analytics
The marketing site uses Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to understand aggregate usage and performance. They load only after you consent in the cookie banner. If you decline, analytics are not loaded. We do not use ad-targeting cookies on the marketing site. The app uses essential authentication and session mechanisms so you can stay signed in and use protected features.
You can change your decision at any time by clicking Cookie settings in the footer, which clears your stored choice and reopens the banner.
7. Retention
We keep account, workspace, lead, and message data for as long as it is needed to provide the service, keep records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Backups, logs, and invoice records may remain for a limited period after cancellation or deletion.
8. International Transfers
Depending on where you are and which providers are involved, your data may be processed in the United States or other countries where our providers operate. Where required, we use contractual or statutory safeguards for cross-border transfers.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict some processing. You can exercise these rights by emailing hello@funkel.ai. If your professional data appears inside Funkel, you can also use that address to request review or deletion under applicable law. Customers in the European Union may lodge a complaint with their local data-protection authority.
10. Security
We use encrypted transport, access controls, credential protection, and operational monitoring. More detail is on our Security page. No system is perfectly secure.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. If the changes are material, we will update the date above and may also notify you by email or in-product notice.
